39 (12) The August quota for blood donations was made pos sible by volunteers such as pictured. (1) Bill Long is at the head of the line stretching back to the desk where medical histories are taken. (2) Jo Ann Baynard’s blood pressure is checked by Waynette Sappington, American Red Cross staff nurse. (3) Marie Watson checks pulse while taking Ruby Hudson’s temperature. (4) Mrs. Joe McJunkin, volunteer, assists Ernest Carter of the ARC staff with supplies. (5) Juanita Dooley checks Eldon McCall’s hemoglobin while (6) Marie Brewer tests Jim Galloway’s temperature and pulse. (7) Berlin Owen and Carl Aiken relax after giving blood, as do (8) Mildred Pressley and (9) Dot Johnson. (10) Edward Poindexter gives blood while (11) Mildred Pressley and Kedzia Aiken, also donating blood, enjoy a good laugh. (12) Mrs. John Smith pins on Claude Edney the five-gallon- donor award for having given his 40th pint of blood during the August visit.
